Registration for the 2024 AKF National Championships must be completed by your RSA State Manager or Administrator.

  • AGE IS DETERMINED BY THE AGE A COMPETITOR WILL BE ON 2 August 2024.
  • WKF (World Karate Federation) rules will be applied to this tournament and modified at the discretion of the AKF Inc.  Some events may be officiated using the Judge Mirror System. Referee Council reserves the right to apply modified rules.
  • Competitors are required to be finacial members of Karate Australia as at 2 August 2024 
  • Competitors 35 and over may only enter the Veteran or Senior category, not both.
  • Competitors must reside in the state of their representation at the National Championships.
    Karate Australia reserves the right to seek multiple items of evidence to determine state representation eligibility. The final decision of eligibility is at the discretion of the National Executive.
  • Each RSA may register 6 competitors per individual category. Individual athletes and RSAs understand and accept that there may be athletes from the same state competing against each other in the first or second round.
  • Each RSA may register 10 Children per division. Individual athletes and RSAs understand and accept that there may be athletes from the same state competing against each other in the first or second round.
  • The organisers reserve the right to combine or cancel divisions where there are insufficient entries.
  • Divisions with 3 entries will be a round robin competition
  • Divisions with 4 or 5 entries will have a 3rd place playoff. Only 1 bronze medal will be awarded.
  • Only Karate Australia qualified coaches who have NRC approval will be permitted in the competition area and all coaches must wear state tracksuit.
  • It is a Karate Australia condition of entry that any competing athlete or attending coach is NOT under any current or existing performance enhancing drug sanctions from WADA or the relative agency/s of the country of origin of the competing athlete or attending coach.

  1. Groin Guards (Males) and Mouthguards and WKF/KA approved red and blue Mitts - All competitors.
  2. WKF/KA approved red and blue combined Shin/Instep Protectors - All competitors.
  3. WKF/KA approved chest protection (Females - Cadets, Juniors, Seniors & Veterans)
  4. WKF/KA approved face masks / head protection ALL Children (9 - 13 years)
  5. WKF/KA approved body protectors - All competitors.

Conditions of Entry – Disclaimer

  1. I acknowledge that I have read the definitions set out below.
  2. I hereby acknowledge that my entry and/or participation in the Tournament carries with it a significant risk of personal injury.
  3. Therefore, I for myself and the Releasors hereby relinquish, release and/or waive any action against the Releasees for any personal injury sustained by me arising out of and/or in the course of the Tournament whether as a result of any disregard and/or technical breach of any Rules of the Tournament or otherwise.
  4. In addition, in the event of any action being commenced, I for myself and the Releasors hereby indemnify the Releasees against any cost and damages arising from or connected herewith.
  5. I hereby authorise AKF Limited / Karate Australia and/or Karate Victoria or its nominated representative to capture photographic, digital or other electronic images during the course of this event. I further acknowledge that AKF Limited / Karate Australia and/or Karate Victoria owns all Intellectual Property rights in respect to these photographic, digital or other electronic images and may, at its sole discretion, publish, display or otherwise use these images for promotional purposes.

Definitions

  1. “Personal Injury” has its ordinary English meaning and includes any injury for which a person might be awarded under General Damages and/or Special Damages at Common Law.
  2.  “The Releasors” means the family, dependents, heirs, executors and/or assigns and any person or persons claiming through them.
  3.  “The Releasees” means any corporation, association or other body and/or any person(s) jointly and/or severally and whether servants or agents of any of the aforementioned or otherwise where any such corporation, other body or individual is associated with the promotion or conduct of the Tournament and includes competitor(s) referee(s) and observers or members of the audience.
  4.  “Any Action”  means any claim, right and/or course of action for damages at Common Law or pursuant to any statute.
  5.  “The Rules”  means the rules for the time being of the Australian Karate Federation Incorporated.
