    Team Kumite

Interested in a North vs South Kumite Battle? If you and at least 2 other team members of the same age category and gender are eager to fight in play off rounds of kumite then enter and list your team members below!

How it works: Each team (minimum of 3 members) has an order which each member will fight an individual round of kumite (the exact same as regular kumite events) against another team of athletes. Winning teams are decided by the team which has won the most number of individual matches. Or, if some bouts result in a draw, accumulated points from all bouts are calculated to determine an overall winning team.

GAMES  (Shoulder/knee tag + Gladiator Clash) events at this tournament will be available for competitors aged 11 yrs & under.  Medals will be awarded for the Kata and Kumite events (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

All games bout durations: 1:30 mins (or first to 3 points)

    1. Shoulder & Knee Tag (GAME)

    Competition Area: 8 x 8 mats

Bout Operation: The bout will commence when the referee calls begin and will stop when the referee or judge signal a score and the referee calls stop. The referee will then announce the point and or warning and the bout will resume. The winner will be the contestant with the most points at the end of the match, the contestant that reaches three points first or the opponent of a disqualified contestant. When announcing the winner the referee will signal in the same manner as Kumite (kachi).  In case of a draw the referees will stand back, and at the signal of the centre referee will signal their preference - the competitor with most votes will be the winner.

Scoring techniques:  1 Point will be awarded for a clean tag to the shoulder or knee - meaning a technique which hits the target and is executed in a sharp manner. 1 point will be awarded using the Kumite hand signal.

Warnings & Penalties: Any contact to the head or face or neck.  Falling on the ground to prevent being scored upon.  Exiting the competition area. The referee will point to the contestant and indicate first or second warning and third penalty is disqualification. When indicating the warning the referee will also announce what the warning or penalty is for.

    2. Gladiator Clash (GAME)

    Competition Area: 3 x 3mats

Bout Operation: Competitors will use provided impact shields to force each other out of a designated area.  Competitors will score one point if any part of their opponents body or shield touches the mat outside the bout area.  A bout is won through being first to score 3 points, or having the highest score at the end of time.  In case of a draw the referees will stand back, and at the signal of the centre referee will signal their preference - the competitor with most votes will be the winner.

Warnings & Penalties: Once a competitor falls to the ground the referee will stop the bout, the bout will restart on the referees signal, once both competitors are standing.  A competitor will ONLY be able to fall 3 times, on the third fall, the other competitor will be awarded the decision and will become the winner of the bout.  Competitors swinging the pad, using other parts of the body to push or repeatedly charging will be warned and/or disqualified at the discretion of the referee.
